Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Virgo: Lessons from 2016 & Letting Go

The last Virgo Eclipse season hit in 2016. I remember flipping through my phone’s camera roll —those pictures felt like snapshots from a life I was desperately trying to keep perfect (and I have so much compassion for her).

My small yoga studio was growing like crazy (which was awesome), yet I was also hanging onto a marriage that was dissolving in slow motion. Everything felt shaky and, if I’m honest, pretty damn terrifying. But, I still wanted that perfect marriage, family, and body—anything less felt like failure, especially if people were watching.

Now, here we are again: a Virgo Eclipse season, our first since 2016. This energy is screaming at us to reflect on what’s no longer serving us. I’ve been asking myself: What habits or beliefs am I still dragging around from that 2016 version of me?

Virgo is great at helping us refine and organize, but the flip side is that it can trick us into believing we have to control every single part of our lives. And let’s be real: trying to keep everything perfect can leave us exhausted, resentful, and totally disconnected from the present moment. The irony?

Real magic happens when we soften our grip and let life breathe a little.

So, if you’re feeling the pull of this Eclipse, take a moment to check in. Are you still obsessed with how you appear to others? Still letting fear of failure call the shots? Do you catch yourself equating your worth with your level of productivity (I still have work to do around this)? Spoiler alert: that’s the Virgo shadow creeping in.

This Eclipse is a cosmic invitation to purge what’s weighing you down—be it a rigid belief system, a perfectionist streak, or an old role you don’t actually want to play anymore. It’s messy work, but the payoff is worth it. Think back to who you were in 2016 (or whatever milestone year you had).

Ask: What did I learn from those struggles, and what can I finally release so I can move on?

Sometimes, letting go isn’t about giving up or failing; it’s about freeing ourselves from a version of life that no longer fits. This Virgo Eclipse is your chance to realign with what truly matters to you—without the baggage of perfection.

It’s a reminder that it’s okay to shed old identities and step into something more authentic. After all, we’re not here to live life in a tight, tidy box. We’re here to grow, explore, and yes, sometimes make a beautiful mess in the process.

xoxo, Nicole
