We Don’t Have Time Not To

A few days ago, I was chatting with a student after class. She’s a mom of two, runs her own business, and somehow still manages to show up on her mat a couple of times a week. But as we wrapped up, she sighed and said something I hear all the time:

"I know I should do more breathwork or meditation, but honestly, I just don’t have time for it."

And trust me, I get it. Life is full. The to-do list is never-ending, work doesn’t pause, kids need you, emails pile up, and at the end of the day, you’re lucky if you remember to drink water and sit down for five minutes.

But here’s the thing…

We don’t have time not to.

The way most of us are living—constantly rushing, overstimulated, carrying the weight of responsibilities, expectations, and stress—we don’t even realize how much it’s draining us. We’ve adapted to this hustle state so well that the idea of pausing feels uncomfortable, almost impossible. But that pause?

That’s where everything changes.

The Cost of Constant Motion

We think that if we just keep moving, we’ll eventually get there—wherever “there” is. Maybe it’s a sense of accomplishment, a little peace, feeling caught up on life (spoiler: that never actually happens). But the truth is, running on empty doesn’t make you more productive, more successful, or a better version of yourself.

It just makes you exhausted.

And when we’re exhausted, we start living in reaction mode. We snap at our kids. We zone out during conversations. We lose patience. We forget what we were doing mid-task. We say yes to things we don’t actually have the energy for. And worst of all? We disconnect from ourselves.

The mind is racing, the body is tense, and that low-level, constant hum of stress starts to feel like the norm. But it’s not. And it shouldn’t be.

Creating Space for What Actually Supports You

Most of us think we need to add more to our plate to feel better. Another workout. Another personal development book. Another attempt at waking up at 5 AM to fit in more productivity. But the real work isn’t in doing more—it’s in making space for what truly supports you.

🌀 The stillness of meditation—so your nervous system can reset.
🌀 The regulation of breathwork—so your body can learn what calm actually feels like.
🌀 The clarity that comes from reflection—so you can stop running in circles and move forward with intention.

We don’t need more things to do. We need more space to breathe, to feel, to reconnect.

And yeah, I know—stillness is hard. Sitting down to meditate when your brain is in overdrive feels impossible. Focusing on your breath when you’re used to drowning out stress with distraction can feel uncomfortable.

But that discomfort? That’s the invitation. That’s the work.

Because the moments you resist the most—the breathwork, the meditation, the pause—are often the ones that hold the biggest transformation.

Your Invitation to Slow Down

So, if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, tired, or just off, consider this your nudge.

Come take a deep breath. Get still. Give yourself permission to pause, even just for a few moments. Because your nervous system, your mind, your body?

They’re begging for it.

And if you need a little extra support, I got you.

Join me THIS THURSDAY NIGHT, March 13th at 7:45 PM for a Full Moon Breathwork + Meditation at Honest Yoga. We’ll slow down, breathe deep, and create space for whatever you need most. No pressure, no perfection—just a chance to reset.

Because the life you want to live doesn’t happen when you’re running on empty. It happens when you make space to truly be in it.

xoxo, Nicole
